Well I'm just now discovering the true power of this free cd ripping software! Well it's much more than that for those who've never ever used it, because I've been using it to put my vinyl records on the computer, and along with mp3 clip, it's a sweet combination! People have said it's hard to do, but I couldn't disagree more! granted I had a bit of trepidation ripping my first vinyl album yesterday, but nothing couldn't have been easier. So who ever designed CDex has done a mighty fine job of it! Out of ten, I give it a ten!

Another thing I forgot to menchone is that I love the feature of recording an mp3 file in real time, unlike most conventional recording software that wants you to record a file in a .wav file first. It's sure saved me alot of disk space being able to encode my lp's in real time!

CDEx is good stuff, I've used it for years, only for ripping CDs though, I better check its other possibilities. :)

But how would you get an album into your computer? Just buy a special cable that allows you to hook a turntable to your computer? Just curious.

That's right, if you have a turntable that has a built-in pach cord, and most of them do. You would just need to buy an RCA to minny plug adapter to connect to your turntable's patch cord, and then plug the minny plug portion into the line-in of your computer's sound card. Then just make sure the line-in option is selected in the windows volume control under the recording controls, and you can then record with CDex!

This topic was moved to the geeks are us board, cause it didn't really seem to belong in the rave board since you guys were asking technical questions about it.

Can this thing record your voice, like a sound recorder, without stopping automatically after a given amount of time? If so, where do I get it!? Lol! I just posted a topic asking for a free sound recorder, but I may have found my answer? Lol...

You can get CDex from www.jfwlite.com under the programs page, but alternatively I do have the setup file for it and can send it to ya, if you have messenger, you can add me, it's renegade_74@hotmail.com, and I can also walk you through setting the thing up.
